MEDICOR is optimized for the latest generation of Web browsers, and we recommend the following as the minimum requirements:

Are you having to login more than once during a search session? MEDICOR as well as many data service providers require cookies. You will need to have them enabled to use the resources available through the MEDICOR gateway, and to take advantage of MEDICOR's single sign-on capabilities.
To check in Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.x, from the browser's menu bar, select Tools. Click Internet Options. Click the Privacy tab. Click Advanced. Make sure the "Override Automatic Cookie Handling" is checked. Also, make sure that "First-Party Cookies" and "Third-Party Cookies" are checked for "Accept." Lastly, make sure that "Always allow session cookies" is checked. Click OK. Click OK.
To check in Netscape 7.x, click the Edit menu option at top of browser. Select Preferences. Under Category, double click on the phrase Privacy & Security. This will open up additional categories under Privacy & Security. Click Cookies. In the right side of the panel select the "Allow cookies based on privacy settings". Click OK.
To check in Mozilla Firefox 2.x, from the browser's menu bar, select Tools. Click Options. Click the Privacy tab. Under Cookies, make sure the Accept Cookies from Sites box is checked. Click OK.

To take full advantage of MEDICOR's many features and capabilities, you must use a Web browser that supports JavaScript and have JavaScript enabled.
To enable JavaScript for Microsoft Internet Explorer (version 6.0 and higher):
  1. From the browser's menu bar, select "Tools"
  2. Click "Internet Options"
  3. Click the "Security" tab
  4. Click "Custom Level"
  5. Scroll down to Active Scripting (it will be under "Scripting")
  6. Click "Enable" to select it. Note: if the radio button is already selected, JavaScript is enabled.
  7. Click "OK" twice to exit
To enable JavaScript for Netscape (7.x):
  1. From the browser's menu bar, select "Edit"
  2. Click "Preferences"
  3. Click "Advanced"
  4. Click "Scripts and Plugins"
  5. Click the "Enable JavaScript for Navigator" box. Note: if the box has a checkmark, JavaScript is already enabled.
  6. Click "OK" to exit
To enable JavaScript for Mozilla Firefox (2.x):
  • From the browser's menu bar, select "Tools"
  • Click "Options"
  • Click the "Content" tab
  • Click the "Enable JavaScript " checkbox. Note: if the box has a checkmark, JavaScript is already enabled.
  • Click "OK" to exit

Note: this procedure is only necessary if new windows of information are not appearing when you click a link. Many features of the MEDICOR website use pop-up windows to deliver information. To have those features work properly you should disable pop-up blockers for this Web site. Common pop-up blockers include the Google Toolbar, Yahoo Toolbar, and Windows XP Internet Explorer with Service Pack 2.
   
Instructions for disabling pop-up blockers:
(Note: You may need to change the settings in more than one place - e.g. Internet Explorer and Google Toolbar)
   
Internet Explorer v. 6.0+:
  • Click on Tools, select Pop up Blocker, select Turn off Pop Up Blocker.
  • Or you can select Pop Up Blocker Settings and add the Library’s website or any other website you are working from under the list of allowed websites.
  • Click on Internet Options and select the Security tab.
  • Click on the Custom Level button.
  • Under the heading Reset custom settings, select Medium-Low from the drop down menu.
  • Click Reset and answer Yes to warning message that pops up.
  • Click on OK
  • Click on Apply and then OK.
  • For other versions of IE, consult the browser’s Help files.

Firefox:

  • Click on Tools, select Options.
  • Select Content, then uncheck the Block Pop up Windows box.
  • Or you can select Exceptions and add the Library’s website or any other website you are working from under the list of allowed websites.
  • Click OK at the bottom to accept changes.

Netscape v. 6.2:

  • Click on Settings >Tools, select Pop Up Manager.
  • Select “Allow Popups from this site” and type “www.uwgb.edu/Library” or any other website you are working from in the box.
  • For other versions of Netscape, consult the browser’s Help files.
Google Toolbar’s Pop-up Blocker:
  • Click on Options
  • Once the Toolbar Options window is open, select the More tab.
  • Uncheck the Enable Pop up Blocker box.
  • Click OK at the bottom to accept changes.
Yahoo Toolbar’s Pop-up Blocker:
  • Click on the small picture of a window with a shield.
  • Click on Enable Pop up Blocker to uncheck this option.
